This Public Inqiry case was undertaken for residents of this uniquely elegant planned enclave. Their aim was to prevent unwelcome infilling of an open side garden to a listed house, by a determined developer. Disregarding historical evidence, planning officers actually recommended approval, but following a Member site inspection, the Council refused. With the Council's case expected to be weak, CAP co-ordinated other witnesses and prepared the residents' main conservation case. The developer was clearly not expecting such a strong defence before proofs were exchanged. Just three days before the Inquiry was due to begin, he withdrew, and has not been heard of since.
