Royal Alexandra Hospital
Client: Brighton and Hove City Council
Location: Brighton
Location: Brighton
Expert witness in Public Inquiry, in support of the Council's refusal of applications by Taylor Wimpey for total demolition and replacement of the Victorian Hospital with an excessively large block of flats. The much loved, but unlisted hospital of 1880 by Thomas Lainson, in a conservation area, was considered to make an important contribution to the character of the area. The Council's refusal, against their officers recommendation, was strongly supported by the local community. Jack Warshaw's evidence was crucial in persuading the Inspector to dismiss the appeal.
